Purpose and Function
Sometimes conductors / cables need to be lifted as the poles, cross arms or insulators that support them may have been damaged or the poles themselves may have moved in the ground causing the conductors / cables to sag excessively, such that may present a danger.
There are many times when conductors / cables may need to be lifted in remote or difficult areas which are inaccessible to vehicles due to vegetation such as protected areas or farmland crops or basically, inhospitable difficult terrain or conditions.
Conductors / cables strung across busy roads or streets may need to be lifted so that large / oversized equipment or other cargo, are safely moved below that cabling and in accordance with legislative requirements, as transport moves along those roads.
The lifting of or the temporary support of electricity conductors and other reticulation aerial cabling such as Fiber Optic, communication, traction (rail / trams) signal, pilot and other overhead cabling, can become a necessity both in reticulation works such as pole or cross arm / insulator replacement, service maintenance / upgrade works or the provision of overhead - over dimensional high load transport escorts.
The MSCLE® Lift System is a dedicated and refined lifting device that can be carried by one person and operated by two persons and developed specifically for the purpose of safely raising, or temporarily supporting cabling or conductors energised to 66kv. Operation of the tool is smooth, controlled and measurable.
The MSCLE® Lift System consists of three separate components:
1. A portable, manually-operated telescopic hoist.

2. Electrically-insulated fibre glass rods and fittings.

3. Attachments in the form of removable tips to suit various conductor / cable types and configurations.

Specifications
- Lift unit weight is approx 20kg and 2.00 metres long x.150mm overall when enclosed.
- An operator handle is attached to the hoist mechanism of the lift unit.
- The hoist mechanism is an internal chain lever block which may be operated with either a continuous winding action or a ratchet action — up or down — actual movement is jerk free and smooth in operation.
- A small lever on the operator handle of the hoist mechanism, is used to select the mode ie; raise, lower or neutral.

- The fiberglass extensions / rods have an insulation rating to 100kV / FT and conform to requirements of International Standard IEC 60855.
- The main insulated fiberglass extension / rod is 1.8m long and 38mm in diameter.
- When fully extended, parts 1# and 2# (when fitted with the large multiple cabling 'T' piece) can reach a lift height of 8m.
- A variety of attachments are available, but where necessary, specific attachments can be designed and manufactured to suit custom configurations or network requirements.
- With extensions, the total weight of the MSCLE® Lift System is approximately 25kg.
- The MSCLE® Lift System can operate effectively whilst standing in up to 1.75 metres of still water.
- Based on destructive testing, the hoist part of the MSCLE® Lift System can comfortably lift 150kg and is certified accordingly.
- The MSCLE® Lift System is completely compact and portable.

Easily transportable, the MSCLE® is, 'as at home in a helicopter as it is in the back of a ute!'
Training
A pre-requisite for training in the use of the MSCLE® Lift System is an electrical trade or equivalent qualification, as well as competency in CPR, overhead reticulation electrical awareness, and procedures for lifting conductors.
Training in the proper use of the MSCLE® Lift System is provided by MSCLE® Training Pty Limited.
